The Vision of the Georgia Council for the Social Studies is to prepare students to be knowledgeable, effective decision makers and engaged citizens in a globally interdependent world. GCSS would like to invite you to submit a 2025 conference session proposal that supports this vision, promotes engaging strategies for all students, blends content instruction with reading and writing skills, and provides resources that are classroom ready for teachers to implement with students as we explore the theme, "
Purpose, Impact, Transformation: Our Story at 250". These interactive sessions should be designed to build capacity for high-quality social studies for the K-12 educator and ensure that students will be engaged as historians, geographers, economists, and political scientists. Please keep in mind that presentation slots are limited to the number of rooms available at the conference. Regular conference sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes. Poster sessions will run concurrently on Friday, October 24 from 9:15-10:15. If you are submitting a proposal for multiple sessions, please complete a form for each one separately.
We look forward to your participation and contribution to the GCSS annual conference on Thursday, October 23 through Friday, October 24 at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia. Proposals should be designed to support educators in learning and honing new skills, teaching methods, content, lesson ideas, or applications of technology as they go back into their classroom the following week
Proposals are due Monday, June 16, 2025. Notification of accepted proposals will be sent to the email submitted in this form in July. As with most professional conferences, presenters must pay to attend the conference and must register in order to present a session(s). ***Please ensure the email address you have listed is checked often and provide an additional personal email address for summer notifications and communication.
Thank you for your continued support of GCSS and social studies educators across the state of Georgia.
