GEORGIA COUNCIL FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES, INC.

As Amended Oct. 19, 2007

  1. Promote adequate inclusion and sequencing of social studies knowledge and skills standards in the statewide curriculum of the Georgia Department of Education and in additional course offerings and staff development programs offered by local school systems.
  2. Inspire and recognize outstanding contributions to the social studies and to GCSS through a program of annual awards to educators and schools.
  3. Disseminate information and strategies to promote the social studies through such activities as research, annual conferences, workshops, newsletters, yearbooks, CDs, web sites, and other efforts.
  4. Enhance cooperation with other professional organizations, local school systems, the Georgia Department of Education, the Board of Regents, public and private colleges and universities, and other organizations and institutions.
